Frescos

A Fresco is a painting , done on plaster on the walls or ceilings. The word fresco comes from the Italian word affresco which derives from the adjective fresco ("fresh"), which has Latin origins. Frescoes were often made during the Renaissance periods in churches, palaces and mansions.

Highly skilled painters were needed for painting a fresco, especially those on the ceilings of a structure. Many frescos took a long period to be completed, often several years.  Fresco paintings which are preserved today are major tourist attractions.
